Photographs & Mixed Media
Beyond the Blueprint
I've always been drawn to the quieter places. Traveling throughout North America and Europe, I often find myself taking the backroads, wandering through small towns, and exploring rural landscapes where everyday life unfolds at its own pace. I love photographing the little details that might otherwise go unnoticed: an old building, an empty road, the way light falls across a landscape, or a moment that captures the feeling of a place.
Back in the studio, those photographs often become the starting point for something new. I think of cyanotype as a kind of blueprint, a base layer that can be built upon, altered, and reimagined through other materials and techniques. By combining photography with botanical elements, stitching, layering, and other mixed-media processes, I can take an image beyond the moment it was captured.
This work is as much about the places I've been as it is about what happens when I revisit them through art. It's a way of preserving memories while giving them room to become something entirely different.
