Wet Cyanotype

Wet cyanotype is one of my favorite ways to let go of control and see what happens.

Unlike traditional cyanotype, where the sensitized paper is allowed to dry before exposure, this process begins while the chemistry is still wet. I experiment with water, botanicals, different substances, and whatever else curiosity brings to the table, allowing them to interact with the light-sensitive surface as it develops in the sun. The results can be wonderfully unpredictable, with unexpected colors, soft edges, strange textures, and patterns that would be nearly impossible to recreate intentionally.

Sometimes a piece turns out nothing like I imagined, and those are often the ones I love most. There's a constant back-and-forth between the decisions I make and what the materials decide to do on their own. Each print becomes a record of that particular moment, shaped by the plants, the weather, the chemistry, and a little bit of chance.

Several of these original works have already found homes with collectors, which makes it especially meaningful to know that these fleeting experiments have become lasting pieces in someone's collection. No two will ever be quite alike, and that's exactly the point.
